Reaper: Tab to Move to the Next Measure

From RBN/C3 Documentation

C3 Author: doa.
Reaper: v 4.22.

In Reaper the Tab key can be used to advance the play-head to the next measure. This is a useful hot-key to use when tempo mapping a song. The following steps show how to create a new Reaper action for this purpose:

  1. Click the Actions menu.
  2. Click Show action list.
  3. In the Actions window click the Section drop down menu and select MIDI Editor from the list.
  4. In the Filter text box enter the keyword measure.
  5. In the filtered list of results select Move edit cursor forward on measure (Figure 1).

  1. Click the OK button to close the Keyboard/MIDI/OSC Input window.
  2. Click the Close button to exit the Actions window.

Pressing the Tab key in Reaper will now move the edit cursor forward a single measure. This is helpful when tempo mapping songs with consistent time signatures as it moves the edit cursor close to where the next tempo marker should be placed.
